With the blizzard now coming down hard in NJ, the authorities are asking people to leave their cars at home and walk.

If you must go out in this weather it is extremely important to insure that you are properly visible from a safe distance. Remember the cars need extra time to see you plus extra time to stop in bad weather. Make sure you are wearing good quality reflective wear. Reflective stripes are best seen when they are at least two inches wide.

Also, please be aware that some reflective materials are inferior to others. Bright Ideas Reflective belts can be seen from over 1000 ft. They also give you 360 degrees of visibility. Always make sure you are properly visible from the side.

A reflector will only light up when a light is shone on it. As an added safety measure you can also wear a multi purpose safety light.
